Altinity Has Joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation

It is my pleasure to announce that Altinity is now a member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). We will also be a sponsor at Kubecon/CloudNativeCon North America 2019 in San Diego 18-21 November.

The mission of the CNCF is to encourage development of cloud native applications. It sponsors a wide range of related open source projects. The most notable project is Kubernetes, but there are many others such as Prometheus, Fluentd, and Rook to name only a few. The CNCF provides the umbrella organization, models for governance, and marketing for the entire ecosystem related to cloud native computing.

We joined the CNCF for a couple of reasons. First, we want to help our users. Analytic capabilities are becoming pervasive in modern applications. Cloud native data warehouses offer an important path to allow every application to have a local data warehouse. We have made a major commitment to this future through our development of the ClickHouse Operator, which allows users to spin up ClickHouse efficiently on Kubernetes clusters. The CNCF’s work to promote the cloud native model directly promotes our users’ interests by making it possible for container-based applications to access ClickHouse and add analytic features easily.

Second, we believe cloud native computing is a great platform for our own cloud services. We want to take full advantage of the capabilities of Kubernetes and other CNCF projects in this work. Deeper involvement with the CNCF will help us understand what is available as well as offer the opportunity to shape the future of projects on which we depend.

We are very excited to be members of the CNCF and already working to share both technology as well as learnings on managing data warehouses in Kubernetes. As a CNCF member we look forward to contributing leadership in the implementation of data services as a whole in the wider cloud native computing ecosystem. Please visit us at KubeCon in San Diego.
